In this piece it is the imperfect and subtle juxtaposition of elements that lends a fantastical air. The White Wolf in the center is the only one whose tail is showing, wrapped coyishly around the comrade sentinel to his right. Delicate pencil strokes delineate the Alpha's fur, the sole member of his pack to bear such a distinction; and his are the only ears to be utterly stiff, like a vampire's pointed fangs.
